  2. Buy and hold for the long term. Markets have ups and downs and no one can predict exactly what will happen.  A long term perspective is needed to get through short term volatility.
  3. Diversify. Put your money in a number of investments.  This helps spread the risk and can help counteract poor performance in volatile markets.
